VC Blog

Hello from Visit Chelmsford and welcome to our first blog! Blimey we have had a busy old summer here since launching. We have had such a positive response from those using the site. Keep feeding back your suggestions we love to grow, improve and be more helpful at keeping you up to date with everything happening in this busy city!

Chelmsford really had been the hub of all things festivally this summer with 6 in total! The highlight so far has been the wonderful Fling, with all the quirks and playfulness you’d expect and weather to match. If local festivals are your thing, this is not one to miss next year! See the photo highlights HERE

The 3foot smashed it again with more fun than ever and some super cute new additions to this year including the alpacas & the mascot races. Find the photos highlights HERE

This summer we still have 4 more festivals lined up V festival, Friends Fest, the New SWFest & Festival Day.

We are super excited to be welcoming some big dogs from the music world such as Pink & Jay-z who are headlining at V Festival this weekend. The city has already been a buzz of wellies, glitter and flower crowns.

Next up If you love all things Phoebe, Monica, Racheal, Joey, Ross & chandler Friends Fest is coming to Hylands Park. You can get totally immersed in the set from the original show; they have their very own fully functioning Central Perk as well as Monica's Moon Dance Diner, 80s Silent Disco and some Smelly Cat Karaoke. Find out more here: HERE

Festival Day at Chelmsford Museum is a celebration of different cultures with dance, music and food from around the world. RHS Hyde Hall has lots of wonderful new developments going on as they opened their brand spanking new ‘Global Growth Vegetable Garden’ this summer. The garden is growing all things edible and educating on plot to plate. Definitely a place for all the family with loads on for the young’uns. See their upcoming events HERE

Something I have loved about this role is getting to know those in our city that are really working their socks off to make it the unique hub that it is. Those that are particularly smashing it in my opinion are the creative bunch giving our city those unique little twists and quirks that make Chelmsford what it is. The Fling festival does well at showcasing local talent and creatives. But something new in particular that I love love love is the work that 'The Bearded Gypsy's Trade Fayre' are doing, providing creatives that are just starting out a platform to showcase their work. By holding regular trade fayres in the city they have been encouraging those who have never ventured out with their work stands to do so. Their next event in Chelmsford is August 26 – Sept 30 at The Bay Horse Chelmsford definitely! For more information about everything ‘groovy’ they do check out their Facebook page HERE

Thanks for reading and enjoy the rest of your summer time!
