Details

Springfield Green

The green at the centre of the village dates back to medieval times. It is located approximately 1.4km northeast of the city centre and is sandwiched between the London to Norwich railway and Springfield Green Road. Springfield Place, an early eighteenth century red brick house, and All Saints Church (an early twelfth century building) overlook this archetypal village scene. A former route from the church across the green remains a popular shortcut linking to the cycle footpath and city centre beyond. A small play area adjacent to the green is popular with younger visitors.

Pollards Meadow

Pollards Meadow is located on the corner of Lawn Lane and Church Lane. The Old Rectory and Springfield Dukes, both dating back to the eighteenth century, add to the character of the setting. The area had a number natural springs and this is partly why the area is called Springfield. Younger visitors can enjoy established play equipment with kick about area, surrounded by mature trees.
