Details

Just off Marsh Farm Road and next to a busy allotment site, Frankland Fields Nature Reserve runs down to Fenn Creek, with views across to the River Crouch and beyond. A public footpath skirts the boundary which forms part of the ‘Woodham Ring’ a popular route for dog walkers and bird watchers. The path which can be found on Explorer Ordnance Survey maps and circles Woodham town, following the 'sea walls' of Fenn Creek and the Crouch Estuary all the way round to Woodham Fen (managed by Essex Wildlife Trust) where you can stop off at Saltcoats Park and Compass Gardens.

The costal conditions are perfect for a variety of grasses which support the Grass Vetchling flower together with more unusual invertebrates including Roesel’s Bush-cricket.

The river slip way car park makes for a pretty picnic spot with tempting views across to a riverside pub with feeding swans nearby.
