This year we see the return of festivals in the city such as Chelmsford Festival, Fling Festival & the sucessful Restaurant Festival, as well as a host of artists and musicians strutting their stuff throughout the year.

As a city, we are passionate about showcasing creatives at all levels making our annual programme so exciting and a chance for you to experience new and established artists.

We believe that creatives are the life blood of a vibrant city, here in Chelmsford we are full of diverse artists. From jewellery to wedding dress designers, unique florists to UK renowed knitters. Here is who they are, what they do and where to find them!



Hylands Estate Stables

A creative hub in the heart of Hylands Estate home to a multitude of resident artists. From Interior design, designers, Artists, glass work, indpendent florists to name a few. Set in 18th Century Stables complete with independant coffee shop this is not one to miss on the artistic chelmsford map.

Just Imagine Illustrators Group

A collective of highly successful and dynamic illustrators. A professional group of some of the top illustrators in Essex which we are proud to host in the city. Look out for their exhibitions across the city where you can preview their work.

Jewellery Barn

The Jewellery barn is a place where ideas come to life. Friends set up this company in a hope to teach people how to create their own beautiful pieces. Using the finest Silver they regularly run jewellery making workshops and private sessions to suit all abilities. They also make there own stunning jewellery. 


We are home to a huge range of music from huge festivals to local jazz sessions. There are so many gems where you can hear some funk, soul, jazz, rock, country or a solid DJ's mix. Below are just a few of the places that will get you up and dancing or chilled out over a cocktail or two.


The Basement 

At the centre of local and national music. With weekly nights showcasing funk and soul to country. The same mix as bbc 6 but with the buzz of a local music venue. Deifnitely a place to hear up and coming buzz and talent.

The Alehouse

This is the place for an amazing brew and great music. Sitting under the rail arches this pub offers the perfect blend of quirky and comfort with as many craft ales, beers, ciders than you could shake a stick at! A hot spot for the ale connoisseur, with highly informed staff and pefectly convenient for a laid back pint off the commuter train.

A Canteen Jazz

Family owned eatery turns into a quirky venue for some smooth Jazz for its special nights. Professionals from London and Essex flock to play at his hot spot for some upbeat improv to some dulcet sax. Check out their event page to see when you can next get a slice of the action.
